7. april var kunstutvalget og KORO vertskap for HM Dronning Sonja og 400 inviterte gjester ved vernissasjen for syv av åtte ferdigstilte kunstprosjekter ved Den Norske Opera & Ballett. I alt 17 kunstnere, 5 utenlandske og 12 norske, 7 menn og 10 kvinner, har bidratt til kunstprogrammet for Nytt Operahus. Kunstutvalget startet arbeidet i 2002 med historiens største kunstbudsjett og med et banebrytende mandat om å utlyse konkurranser internasjonalt og å skaffe sponsorinntekter. Både metoder for prekvalifiseringer og utvalgets formidlingsgrep har dannet praksis for andre kunstprosjekter. Budsjettet startet på 30 mill kroner og avsluttet med 52.6 mill kroner, etter indeksreguleringer og sponsorinntekter. De økonomiske rammer har gjort det mulig å tilføre kunst som har et selvstendig og aktivt forhold til arkitekturens monumentale og særegne signatur.

On April 7, the arts committee and KORO played hosts to HM Queen Sonja and 400 invited guests at the inaugural reception for seven of eight completed art commissions at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. A total of 17 artists - out of which there were 5 foreigners and 12 Norwegians; 7 men and 10 women - have contributed works to the art program for the New Opera House. The arts committee commenced its task in 2002 with the largest art budget in history and the groundbreaking mandate to announce international calls for entries and to raise sponsor funds. The committee's pre-qualification methods and dissemination approach have set the standard for later art projects. The budget started out at NOK 30 million and ended at NOK 52.6 million, due to indexation and sponsor revenue. This financial scope has allowed for the inclusion of artwork that relates actively and independently to the monumental and distinctive architecture.
