The purchasing scheme was set up in 1997 for government bodies that rent space in privately-owned buildings or are housed
in older public buildings. The allocation of works of art is made following an application. When assessing the applications,
factors such as the type of building, the building’s architectural suitability, the degree to which it is used as a public
place, and public access will be taken into account. The applications will be assessed by a committee consisting of three
external members (all artists thus far) appointed by KORO, as well as one of KORO’s staff members. The committee is responsible
for the selection of artistic solutions that will be realised either through the purchase of existing works of art or by commissioning
new works. The users and the architect will be consulted in the planning phase, and there is emphasis on an open dialogue
throughout the process.
The next application deadline will be announced in the autumn of 2008.
The current committee consists of Katrine Giæver , Anders Tomren, Annette Kierulf and adviser Elisabeth Tetens Jahn from KORO.
KORO has published two catalogues for the purchasing scheme: Dialog – Kunst og sted gir mening and Andre kunstrom – Andre sammenhenger (both available only in Norwegian).
