Welcome to Tullinløkka - 29th of May at 2pm.
UNTUNED BELL, A K Dolven’s installation is about to be removed from Tullinløkka, Oslo.
The composition created by Rolf Wallin for the opening ceremony on the 6th of February will again on the 29th May, be played
on the bells in Oslo Town Hall, only this time it is played back to front.
For centuries bells have been part of our everyday lives all over the world. A K Dolven has reintroduced a forgotten 1.5-ton
bell, which used to hang in the Oslo Town Hall. The bell was removed for being out of tune, but A K Dolven brought it back
to Oslo as the central element of her work Untuned Bell made for the Tullinløkka city square. When the audience steps on a
pedal it chimes again. For the duration of the project this cry baby pedal (Jimi Hendrix) has become worn and patinated from
the use of thousands of impromptu bell ringers. The sound of the Untuned Bell has become part of the city’s fabric. As it
is now taken down the fate of the Tullinløkka square is again an open question. The bell will once more become mute.
Return to being used as a parking lot? A K Dolven will speak.
