Acknowledged artists on the site during Easter

The art committee for the New Concert Hall in Stavanger have made an ambitious art programme. 6 April they are hosting competing artists for an art project in the Amphitheater outside the Concert Hall.  After an international prequalifying competition and directly invitation to some artists, the art committee selected the six artists/artist groups: Acconci Studio (New York), Rachel Whiteread (London), Lars Ramberg (Berlin), Marit Justine Haugen / Dan Zohar (Oslo), Thomas Nordström /Annika Oskarsson (Stockholm) and Viel Bjerkeset Andersen (Oslo). The selected artists are based on the challinging and complex issue of the Amphitheatre. The art project needs to be able to enter into a dialogue with the site, to be inviting, inclusive and challenging, and encourage participation in various ways. At the same time, the art work should have a high degree of integrity and add a distinctive dimension to the setting of the Concert Hall. The competition proposals will be exhibited in Stavanger mid June, after the jury has made their decision.
