Kilden, the Performing Arts Center in Kristiansand, will open its doors to the public in 2012. Kilden will present a new model for combining performing art and music, where the design of the building and its contents create the optimum physical conditions for these art forms. The building will be one of the region’s most important meeting places and will accommodate both professional and amateur practitioners. The building will house three of the region’s central cultural institutions: Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Agder Theatre and Opera Sør (Opera South). KORO (Public Art Norway) is managing the commission of works of art for Kilden IKS along a model that is similar to the Art in Public Buildings scheme , in consultation with The Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs.
