PRESS RELEASE: PALESTINIAN EMBASSY:A Performance by Goksøyr & Martens

 

Camilla Martens and Toril Goksøyr will present their performance PALESTINIAN EMBASSY in the Kontraskjæret Park by the Akershus Castle/Rådhusplassen (the City Hall Square) in Oslo in the period from September 19 to 22 at 5:00 pm. The performance will be in the form of an embassy reception.

The embassy is a hot air balloon flying over Oslo, and Norwegian and Palestinian politicians and academics will be invited on board to discuss the democratic and diplomatic possibilities of the Palestinian people.

"We are honoured to have the participation of the distinguished Palestinian politicians Mustafa Barghouti, Ahmad Tibi, and Hanin Shakrah. We are also anxious to see whether the prominent Norwegian politicians that have been invited to meet with them will recognize this opportunity."

All debates will be chaired by Stein Tønnesson and directly broadcast to the ground for general availability to the public and to the media alike. There will also be one exclusive slot for a television photographer on board each balloon ride.

The hot air balloon is decorated with the colours of the Palestinian flag and bears the inscription "PALESTINIAN EMBASSY" in English and Arabic.

The project is produced by Public Art Norway - KORO and supported by the Fritt ord foundation.
