Open competition for project ideas: The new Performing Arts Centre in Kristiansand, Norway
We are seeking ideas from interested parties – ideas for art projects that will generate a feeling of anticipation and surprise, encouraging the public to visit Kilden. This competition is for ideas for the following areas: 1.The roads and paths leading to the building, 2. The hillside cutting and 3. The arrival area. The projects should have a clear artistic identity that take into consideration the town itself and the visiting public.
The Performing Arts Centre will be a melting post for the arts; for theatre, music, opera, ballet, dance etc, as well as being a building of particular architectural merit. We are seeking art projects that have clear visual and tactile qualities.
Material to be submitted includes a maximum of three A3 pages of text and illustrations of ideas and intentions behind each art project in easily comprehensible terms. The jury will award up to 6 proposals with NOK 30.000 for each proposal. The aim of the competition is to find suitable projects for the three areas – these commissions may be awarded directly to the artists.
